Form not generating Excel

I have a MS Form with over 1000 responses and it no longer will create an excel when I select "Open in Excel". It won't open an excel nor will it create a new excel workbook. Instead, I just get an error message:

Sorry, something went wrong

Please try again.

Session id: d7109172-f63c-4064-8f10-a366763a****, Correlation id: 5821c3ac-6dec-47e8-8538-508ddf0e****

(I tried attaching a screenshot but it keeps failing)

I recently changed ownership of the form myself to my team's SharePoint, so I'm not sure if that is affecting this. I have tried to change ownership back to myself but I see no option to do this. I have also tried opening the excel from the owner of the SharePoint, but it give the same error message.

Ultimately, I need the data from this form and I have no idea why I can no longer see it in excel format. I see no other way to extract the responses so I'd really appreciate someone to help get this issue resolved. Thanks.

    Hi Yaddek,

Thanks for posting in the community. We are happy to help you.

Once you convert a personal form to a group form (move a personal form to a group), you can't convert it back. Generally, this won't cause Excel file issues.

According to your description, I suggest you use another browser or use the InPrivate browser window to access the form again. Check if the problem still occurs.

If it still occurs, I would like to confirm if you have tried the function "Sync all responses to a new workbook".

    • If not, I suggest you use this function to sync all responses to a new workbook, and then check again.
    • If you have already tried, but the problem still occurs, it is likely caused by the server. To troubleshoot it further, I suggest you report this problem to your tenant admin or IT team and have them raise a support ticket via Microsoft 365 Admin Center> Support> New service request. That support team there will have the correct channel and resources to help you investigate more and find what exactly the reason has caused this problem at the backend.

Sorry for the inconvenience that happened to you. Appreciate your understanding and patience.

    Sincerely,
