When using command f it randomly stops working.

While in the middle of doing whatever I am doing command f suddenly says “we couldn’t find what you are looking for. Click options for more ways to search.”

I have seen other people say they had something clicked like “match case” and what not. That is not the case for me as I have not changed anything about the way I am searching. It literally just all the sudden says there is no match when there clearly is. I even tried typing in what I am searching for rather than copy pasting and it still doesn’t seem to work.

    Dear Chris W_18,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

I’m sorry you’re having a problem with using Command + F, which randomly stops working. Based on your description, we can work together to resolve it.

For the situation you encountered, we deeply understand the inconvenience caused and apologize for it.

I would suggest you follow the methods below and see if they could help in your scenario:

    • Could you please try using the Command + F command in Excel on the web to check if the issue also occurs?
    • Could you please make sure that the Excel application is updated? Update Office for Mac automatically - Microsoft Support
    • Could you please try other alternative commands like Command + G so that we can check if the issue is related to one particular command?

We appreciate your understanding that sometimes the initial suggestions may not resolve the problem very soon. However, we can work together to narrow down and resolve the situation. So, please kindly provide more information below to let us work further.

    • May I know if this is a problem with all documents or some specific documents?
    • Could you please provide me with a screenshot of your Office version? To check the version, you can use this link: What version of Office am I using? - Microsoft Support
    • Could you please confirm whether other applications also have the same problem, such as PowerPoint or Word?

We appreciate your patience and understanding and thank you for your time and cooperation.

    Sincerely,
Ralph Chawatama | Microsoft Community Moderator
