Microsoft Designer 100% cpu usage

I have been using Microsoft designer for almost 2 months now with no issue until last week. Now every single time I try to work on a project my cpu usage shoots up to 100% the moment I do anything. This includes slightly moving anything or highlighting anything. If I persist, waiting for my cpu usage to lower before moving anything again, within a few moments my GPU will also spike to 100% usage resulting in my screen going black for a brief moment and everything on the designer web page going white which requires a refresh of the page to fix. When I refresh the web page there is a chance designer will give me an error and tell me to restart my browser. I have attempted to use designer on 5 different computers and they all have the same problem. Why are my computers being brought to their knees by designer all of a sudden? Is there anything I can do to fix this so I can continue my work? Please help!

    Hello 14000.

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

We are sorry to learn that you are experiencing high CPU usage while using Microsoft Designer. Since you are using the Microsoft Designer web application, this may be browser or server related.

In order to get a clearer picture of your situation, I would like to confirm a few things with you:

    • You mentioned that you are experiencing this issue on all five of your devices, are you using the same browser?
    • What version of browser are you using?
    • Do you also experience high usage when using your browser to access other online services?

Take Microsoft Edge for example, you can try the following options to troubleshoot the error:

    • Try disabling hardware acceleration. Type edge://settings/system in the browser address bar.
    • Try switching between different versions of browsers. Visit this link to install a different version of Microsoft Edge and check if the issue occurs across different versions of browsers.
    • Additionally, you can also try switching to a different browser to try it out.

If none of the above methods solves the problem, then I recommend trying a clean boot which starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. It can be used to determine whether a background service or program is interfering or causing a problem.

These steps of "clean boot" might look complicated at first glance. However, to avoid any trouble for you, please follow them in order and step-by-step.

Feel free to share updates on this issue with us, and if you still have questions, you can contact us and we'll help you further.

    Best Regards
