I agree with SV7777 that this is next to impossible to use. Try doing it for 10 documents in a row and you'll pull your hair out. It takes way too many keystrokes to copy a permalink. Microsoft is usually big on providing an intuitive user interface. This is anything but.
Creating Links Using Document ID
I am using Document IDs for SharePoint files. How do you create links that use the ID instead of the path?
The only way I've found is to right-click copy URL on the properties within the details. I know I can add it as a column. Both are poor options when the obvious way to create links do not use the ID.

2024-07-12T00:11:13+00:00 Hi SV7777,
Thanks for posting in the community. We are happy to help you.
Per your description, I assume you are referring to the Document ID feature mentioned in this article.
If not, please point it out and provide more details.
If so, since you mentioned that adding the Document ID column is a poor option, could you please provide more details about your needs? What does the link look like in your needs? Because as far as I know, using the Document ID column and copying the URL from the detail pane are the only two built-in ways to use the Document ID feature.
We look forward to your response. Thanks for your cooperation.
Sincerely,

The whole point of the Document ID option is to create durable links, right? What is the intended way to create those links, exactly?
All of the usual ways to create links such as the create link button on the SP list record and the right click option on synced files (what I would usually prefer to use since I'm not using the online interface) still create path links with Doc ID enabled. Even the ID column method you mentioned has no way to right click to copy the underlying URL and when you click it the Doc ID URL immediately gets translated back to a path URL, so I cannot use it to copy the ID URL.
The only option being:
* Go to SP List
* Right click record
* Open details pane
* Right click to copy Doc ID URL
Is a lot of steps and much more inconvenient than accessing the link through the other more typical methods. Also requires you to go to the list for synced files. We are going to end up with embedded path links in our published documents since people will usually not use this method. This is a problem for us and negates the benefit of the Doc ID option.
All the search results I've found relating to this are MS deflecting the obvious issue here and telling people to "put in a feature request" 4+ years ago.

2024-07-23T08:00:34+00:00 Hi SV7777,
Thanks for posting back and sorry for my late reply.
As you mentioned, we need to go to the details pane of the item(file) to copy the URL with the Document ID from the Document ID column/field. Also, based on my test, another way is to copy the URL from the Properties view of the item(file) via the three dots> More> Properties.
If you want to copy the URL with the Document ID without going to the details pane, as a workaround, you can use a Calculated column and JSON code to build the URL with the Document ID and make it clickable in the library view. However, in this case, you need to click "Edit in grid view", and then copy (Ctrl + C) the URL from the cell/field.
I understand that the Document ID feature/service doesn't meet your expectations. In this case, I recommend you send feedback in the Microsoft Feedback Portal where other members also post and vote for their suggestions/feedback. It's the platform for us to hear your voice and improve our products.
Appreciate your understanding and patience.
Sincerely,
