SharePoint Embed

I am trying to embed a link to a spreadsheet. However, it forces me to download the sheet instead of allowing me to view it on a site. I saved it to my OneDrive, changed the access to 'everyone except outside users', and converted this HTML link to iframe embed code. https://xxx.sharepoint.com/:x:/r/personal/xxxx/

SharePoint shows the data for a second, then says, ' 401 error unauthorized' or sad face and 'https://xxxx.sharepoint.com refused to connect.'

I also tried saving the link to a SharePoint list and embedding that iframe code but got a 404 error. file:///C:/Users/xxx/AppData/Local/

Is this because these are local files and do not reside on the internet?

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks,

Michelle

    Dear Michelle Alonso,

    Thank you for update.

I noticed you can open it via OneDrive for work or School, but you can’t open it via personal OneDrive. And you mentioned that the file is set to "accessible except for external users".

This may be an issue caused by permissions, your personal account is an external account, and you don’t have permission to access these files of your business account through your personal account.

For more personal OneDrive questions, I recommend posting to the For Home category. Since our category focuses on the basic features of Office 365 Business Edition products and we can’t assist you further on personal OneDrive.

Thank you for your patience and time.

    Sincerely,

    Thank you for the reply!

I can open the link from One Drive for Business.

I converted the code to iFrame to EMBED it on SP. SharePoint shows the data for a second, then says, ' 401 error unauthorized' or sad face and 'https://xxxx.sharepoint.com refused to connect.'

I am trying to understand if this is because it is on my personal One Drive.

Do I need to have a website to host links that I want to embed?

    Dear Michelle,

Good day. Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. To protect your privacy, we have marked your personal information.

Based on your description, you can’t open a Spreadsheet link on the web, you need to download it. And when you saved this link to OneDrive, and open this sheet, it will give you an error message. Then when you saved this link to SharePoint list, it also doesn’t work for you. And I noticed that these files are local files.

If I understand correctly, please sign in your OneDrive or SharePoint at first. Upload these files to OneDrive or SharePoint site. Then open it again.

If you still can’t open this file, please try to use another browser and could you provide me which version of SharePoint do you use? Is SharePoint server or SharePoint online? May I know which OneDrive account do you use? Is personal OneDrive or OneDrive for work or school?

Thank you for your time and patience.

    Sincerely,
