Excel - the Sort function is disabled

The Sort function is grayed out and I cannot sort. The sheet and workbook are not password protected. I somehow got the rows to be alternately light and dark today, but don't know how. Ideas?

Hi W-Wolfe!

I'm Shakiru, an Excel User and I'm glad to help you out today

Does this issue occur only with this file or all Excel files?

Since the sheets or workbooks are not protected then, verify if the sheets are grouped or merged.

If it only happens in a particular file, copy and paste the content into a new or blank file.

Let me know how it goes.

Best Regards

I created a second copy as you suggested and that worked. Thanks
