Unable to access Sharepoint as an external user

I am working with multiple 3rd parties who have attempted to add my email as a user to access the sharepoint sites. However, when I attempt to log in after clicking the link in the invitation email, I am getting the following message. With the exception of the vendors sharepoint site the message is the same. Initial I thought this was an issue with the first vendor I attempted to access but then I received an invite for the second vendor and received the same error so now I suspect it is an issue with my email address/O365 account.

    Hi Lee,

Thanks for posting in the community. We are happy to help you.

According to the screenshot, this means that you have not been successfully added as a guest user of their tenant. The issue can be caused by two possibilities, your organization's outbound settings or their organization's inbound settings.

In the case, as an end user, you can report the problem to your tenant admin or IT team and their organization's admin or their IT team.

    1. For your tenant admin or IT team, have them check the organization's outbound settings and B2B collaboration settings.

Limit organizations where users can have guest accounts

    1. For their organization's admin, have them check if they see your account in the Microsoft Entra admin center (Users). Make sure the Account status of your account is "Enable". If they don't see your account, have them check the organization's inbound settings and inbound B2B collaboration settings.

We look forward to your response. Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Good morning,

I checked the settings on our tenant and everything appears ok from our side. The two 3rd parties added another user in our company and it works for that user; just not my user.

The 3rd parties have also verified that my account was active. They even tried deleting the account on their side an re-adding.

    Thank you!

    Hi Lee,

Thanks for posting back and sorry for my late reply.

Based on your reply, since both organizations have successfully added another user as a guest user, this indicates that their process and the settings in their organizations are correct.

In this case, I suggest you open the InPrivate browser window to access the SharePoint sites again. Check if the problem still occurs.

If it still occurs, we need to troubleshoot it further. I suggest you report it to your tenant admin or IT team and ask them to raise a support ticket via the Microsoft 365 Admin Center> Support> New service request. The support team there has the correct channel and resources to help you investigate more and find what exactly reason has caused this at the backend.

Sorry for the inconvenience that happened to you. Appreciate your understanding and patience.

    Sincerely,
