Corrupted Excel workbook, pivot table

I use Excel online, free version with my hotmail mail address.

I have an Excel workbook located at onedrive.

It contains several sheets of data, also using stock data type.

There are also several sheets containing pivot tables.

The workbook incl. stock data types and pivot tables have been working fine since i created it three years ago in spring 2021.

I have'nt done any mayor changes to the XL workbook lately, like eg. creating pivot tables, data tables, new sheets etc.

Starting 1-2 weeks ago i get the following series of errors.

1.

Just below the ribbon, with green background:

WORKBOOK REPAIRED We temporarily repaired this workbook so that you can open it in Reading View. Buttons "Learn more..." and "Edit Workbook".

I press "Edit Workbook"

Next dialog:

2.

Fix this workbook

This workbook is damaged. If you need to edit it, we recommend selecting 'Fix It' button below.

Please note that if there are ny problems after fixing the file, you can refer to the previos version.....

Buttons "Fix it" and "Cancel".

I press "Fix it"

Next dialog:

3.

Workbook has been modified

A newer version of this workbook is available.

Would you like to discard your changes and work on the latest version?
Buttons "Yes" and "No."

If i press "Yes"

Next dialog

4.

Something went wrong

We're sorry, but something went wrong with this file.

We recommend opening it in reading view so that we can try to repair it.
Buttons "Reading View" and "Cancel"

If i press "Reading view", all my pivot tables are lost, and converted to just values.

I roll back the XL book to a version from March 27.

All are restored

I can update the pivot tables

(and refresh stock data types as well)

Everything works fine a couple of hours, then the error 1. occours again.

I tried creating a new xl book, and copying everyting but the pivot tables (they cant be copied) to the new xl book.

Things work fine, but if i add a pivot table, then errors similar to then one in the old xl book occours.

Btw, i have office 2021 but that does not support the stock data type, so I'm using Excel online with my hotmail/live account for this.

(I tried to add screen dumps of the error messages using the insert image function, as well as drag and drop to the text box but the files wont upload)

Hi, I am a Microsoft user just like yourself and I will try my best to help you as much as I can today.

Backup Your Workbook: Before making any changes, ensure you have a backup of your workbook. Save a copy to your local drive or another location.

Clear Browser Cache: Sometimes, browser cache can cause issues with online applications. Clear your browser's cache and cookies, then restart the browser.

Try a Different Browser: Open the workbook in a different web browser to see if the issue persists. This can help rule out browser-specific issues. Check for Excel Online Limitations: Excel Online has some limitations compared to the desktop version. Ensure your workbook’s features are all supported in Excel Online.

Repair the Workbook: As suggested by the error message, try the 'Fix It' option again. After fixing, save the workbook under a new name and close it. Reopen the new workbook to see if the issue is resolved.

Roll Back to a Previous Version: If 'Fix It' doesn't work, use the version history to roll back to a previous version of the workbook where it worked correctly. Recreate Pivot Tables: If rolling back doesn’t work or the issue recurs, you may need to manually recreate the pivot tables in the repaired or rolled-back version of your workbook.

Use Excel Desktop for Pivot Tables: If recreating pivot tables in Excel Online leads to the same issue, consider using the Excel 2021 desktop application for creating and managing pivot tables, even though it doesn’t support stock data types.

Integrate Desktop and Online Versions: Use Excel 2021 for pivot tables and Excel Online for stock data types. After updating stock data online, download and open the workbook in Excel 2021 to manage pivot tables.

Seek Help from Microsoft Support: If the problem continues, contact Microsoft Support for more specific assistance, as they can provide detailed guidance.

Consider Using Add-Ins: Explore Excel add-ins that might offer alternative ways to handle stock data types in Excel 2021.

Keep Your Software Updated: Regularly check for and install updates for both your web browser and Office applications to ensure compatibility and bug fixes. Use Excel Mobile App (Optional): As an alternative, try using the Excel mobile app on a tablet or smartphone to see if it handles your workbook better.

See if that helps! Please let us know if you have any questions. Microsoft Support is available for further assistance if the issue continues.

    Best regards Deeksha
