How can I save an uploaded excel spreadsheet in OneDrive?

Hi,

I have uploaded alot of excel spreadsheets I created through the Exel desktop app into One Drive. I'm trying to take one of those spreadsheets while in One Drive and create a copy of it so when one of my people go to edit it they are using the copy version instead of the master spreadsheet. My steps to do this was open the master spreadsheet while in one drive so it opened via the web, click on file, save as, save a copy, select the folder I want it to go to, and name it something differently. When I did this I received an error "There was a problem creating a copy of this file. Please try again in some time". I've tried to do this multiple times with no success. Any help would be appreciated.

Side Note: The spreadsheet is not password protected and I can edit it.

Just keep the source workbook on your local machine, or upload it from your local machine into a private area.

    Dear Abby,

From the screenshots, it seems to be a Excel for the web issue when you create a copy of Excel file.

I'd like to confirm whether you open the same file on some browsers and devices. If yes, close them, clear the current browser's cache, close the browser and then open the file and do a test to see whether the issue goes away.

If you aren't the administrator, to make sure that the same file is closed on all devices, I suggest you contact the administrator and let him run Revoke-SPOUserSession mentioned in Revoke-SPOUserSession (Microsoft.Online.SharePoint.PowerShell) | Microsoft Learn. Then you can do a test again to see the outcome after some time.

If it is convenient, you can sync the files with the OneDrive sync client and copy the file in File Explorer directly to see the outcome.

Welcome to share your updates at your convenience.

Thank you for your effort and time.

    Sincerely
