Hi,
For context, I have created a table on excel that is used to create different levels of work, depending on which 'standard' is being applied. I.e. if we were using the 'gold' standard, all areas of the table would need to be filled out. If using 'silver', then certain rows are greyed out to indicate they are not to be completed.
There are 3 standards, which can be chosen from a drop down selection in the table. Depending on which standard you choose, it will populate the 'standard' column in the table with 'yes' or 'no', which is then in turn used to either grey out the row if not needed (no) or keep it the standard text colour to indicate it needing to be filled (yes). The information to populate this is located in a separate table.
This all works fine within the desktop app. You can swap between each standard with no issues, save it then close it, use the document, nothing changes or corrupts. However, if you use the web version to change the 'standard' to suit a particular job, it will change to that standard fine whilst editing the document, but as soon as you leave it then try to re-enter it, the file corrupts. Excel does recover the document, but it will never save correctly and will need to be recovered each time it is opened. Once corrupted it will not open properly using the app version of excel too. I believe that something is being affected by the autosave feature being used when the document is saved in the cloud.
I am not sure why this seems to be an issue, and would be pleased if someone could shed some light on what is happening? The point of including this feature in the document was to minimise the amount of documents being created / used, and for convenience of our workflow, allowing others to simply use the web version to add / change data. This cannot be done if the first step to starting the sheet, or if it is accidentally changed midway through causes the whole document to be corrupted.
The current work around is that I have used the desktop app to save each 'standard' table version as its own excel document, then have it uploaded to the cloud file system for my work.
I have also reported this issue when the problem popped up, but am hoping that I may get some advice / help here too for a quick resolution.
Annoyingly I cant upload a screenshot because it fails to load...
Kind regards,
Alex
