It could be those cells are not truly blanks. You may use Isblank function to confirm whether the cell is truly blank.

I have been using sort in Excel for many years, but recently when sorting eg Email records in a column (not all rows in the column have data), the sort appears at the bottom of the sheet instead of the top. The only way to get the data to the top is to z-a the data? Also, when creating a pivot table and calculating 'values', every count equals the same number (the sum total of all the records on the worksheet). I am thinking that I may have adjusted a setting accidently as this has never happened previously.

Thank you for responding. Unfortunately, the file contains a large number of personalized data and due to data protection regulations, I am unable to share the full document.
However, I have attached three screen shots, one showing the Pivot table with incorrect numbers. The other two are screenshots of the 'analyse data' option, showing the correct numbers.
I can explain in more detail about the 'sort' issue.
My worksheet has around 20 fields, one contains personal Email address and another contains generic Email addresses.
When undertaking an a-z sort of either fields, the sorted content appears at the bottom of the list and the blanks appear at the top.
However, when undertaking an z-a sort, the content appears at the top and blanks at the bottom. Essentially, in reverse.
However, this seems to be only happening on Excel documents that have been created from an Microsoft Access table using the 'external data' option. I have been using this method for a few years, and this is the first time that I have experienced this issue.
Could you share some screenshot of your issue?
