SharePoint Document Sharing with additional information

Hi,

I'd like to know if there's a way to share documents and have the additional information (metadata) shown with the hyperlink.

My organization uses Outlook and Teams for communications. When pasting a SharePoint document url, it will automatically grab the file name information of the document.

However, is it also possible to have the Description (another metadata field) information to be shown when the url is pasted?

Any help/suggestion is appreciated, thank you!

    Hi Sean,

    Thank you for the reply.

However I'm not able to see the "Include link details" checkbox option.

When I click "Copy Link" (same dialog box in/out of the document), this shows up.

    After clicking into "Settings".

    Did I miss something?

    Dear Scott CAI,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft community. We are delighted to offer our assistance.

It is possible to share SharePoint documents with additional information (metadata) shown with the hyperlink. One way to do this is by using the "Copy link" feature in SharePoint.

When you copy the link of a SharePoint document, you can choose to include the metadata fields in the link.

    1. Go to the SharePoint document you want to share.
    2. Click on the "Copy link" button in the top right corner.
    3. In the "Copy Link" dialog box, select the "People with existing access" option.
    4. Check the box next to "Include link details".
    5. Select the metadata fields you want to include in the link.
    6. Click "Copy" to copy the link to your clipboard.

When you paste the link in Outlook or Teams, the metadata fields you selected will be shown along with the hyperlink.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation! Have a great day.

    Sincerely,

    Sean | Microsoft Community Moderator
