Onedrive shared folder access denied

We have random external users that periodically receive an access denied message when opening a shared onedrive link to a folder set to share with anyone. In some cases, the shared link works, but then the user gets access denied later in the day clicking the same link.

The user doesn't have an external account in our system. With the link set to: Anyone Share with anyone, doesn't require sign-in how in the world are users getting access denied messages?

I had the user try in incognito mode and they got prompted to login and then access denied after logging in. I would expect access denied as the external account does not have access. The issue is they should not be getting prompted to login to an Anyone link.

I am sharing as an anyone link, the result is a prompt to login and access denied.

No expiration date is set on the link.

This is a standard action of opening OneDrive, get a link as Anyone with the link can edit and share it via email. The user is then prompted to login, which should not be happening.

    Dear Truong,

What is the sharing link type you are using?

If you are using the Anyone link, Do you set the expiration on the link?

If you share the link with the external users, how many users are experiencing the issue?

If it is convenient, I suggest you let the external users try the InPrivate mode of the browsers to see whether they can access the shared folder with the Anyone links?

Thank you for your effort and time.

    Sincerely

    Dear Bsim365,

As the issue happens randomly for the external users, could you let the external users try the InPrivate mode of the browsers to see whether they can access the shared older with the Anyone links?

If you share the shared folder with them by a new Anyone link, what's the result?

Do you set the expiration on the link? If no, I suggest you create and copy the new link on Notepad, send the link to them directly after some time and let them do a test again at their side with the InPrivate mode of the browsers to see whether the issue can go away at their sides now.

Welcome to share your updates at your convenience.

Thank you for your effort and time.

    Sincerely
