Problem accessing shared folder on SharePoint

Hello All!

I partner has shared a folder with me through SharePoint.

At first I received the notification email, clicked on the link, entered my email address, received a confirmation code on my email, entered the code and got access to the folder.

Problem is that if I try to access the folder the next day (meaning that I turn the pc off and on again), I get a "User not in directory" error. The only way to access it again, is by following the same procedure again via the link from the original notification email. Once done, Chrome allows me to access the folder even I close and reopen again the browser. On Edge on the other hand I have to do this procedure even if I just close and open the browser within the same session.

Any idea why this might be happening? I was thinking that maybe there was a mix-up between the 365 and personal account. I only use the "personal" for skype though, and I tried the procedure with the skype closed.

Moreover, when I visit OneDrive via the browser, I can see the shared folder, but when i click on it, I get (again) the same message and cannot access it.

Any ideas?

Thank you in advance

    Dear Ilias T,

Thank you for posting your query in our community.

Please don't worry, let's resolve your concern together and move towards a path towards resolution.

Please try the below troubleshooting steps and let us know your outcome by follow-up replay.

May I know did you signed in with more than one Microsoft account in your browser? If that happens, it is possible that the browser is messing up with the different accounts and giving the error.

to have further troubleshooting, please try a clear browser cache.

Chrome Click here -->Clear cache & cookies - Computer - Google Account Help

Edge click here -->How to Manage and Clear Your Cache and Cookies - Microsoft

    Remember the following steps:

    1. Sign in to access the folder in the browser.
    2. go to the file directory right-click>> details.
    3. Copy the file path.
    4. Save this URL to your bookmarks and check if you can open it next time.
    5. Keep only one account logged in to the browser and check for any problems

Please check if you can sync the folder to local so you don't need to open it again and again from the link.

If you have any additional questions or if you need any additional help regarding this or anything else at all - let me know, I'll be here to help you out.

And in the meantime, I hope you'll have a lovely day ahead, stay safe & take care! 💜

    Yours sincerely
