    Excel for desktop or on line? If desktop, what version of Excel do you run? (Use the Menu Bar and choose Excel > About Microsoft Excel to find the version number)

    Can you share a version of the file?

    I understand that you are experiencing a lag when opening the excel file on your MacBook.

    1. Does this issue happen with all the excel files on your Mac?
    2. May I please know the version or edition of the Office applications running on your PC?
    3. Could you please let us know the Mac OS version?
    4. Whether other applications also get the same problem? Such as PowerPoint or Word and etc.

    1.First please try to reboot Mac in safe mode and determine whether background programs are causing the issue. For detailed information, please check this article.

    1. If you installed add-ins on Excel, disable them.
    2. . Another suggestion is to remove the Office folders from Containers folder in Library with following steps.

    a: Completely quit all Office apps

    b: In Finder, press COMMAND +Shift+g.

    c: Enter ~/Library and click Go

    d: Go to Containers folder, find the folder called Microsoft Excel or com. Microsoft.Excel

    e: Move this folder to your desktop by cut&paste .

    f: Relaunch Excel for Mac application and see the results.

    4.If the problem with all Excel files even new created Excel document on your Mac OS, then I suspect components were corrupted somehow. You can go to the Applications folder In Finder and drag Microsoft Excel.app to the trash. Then Restart your Mac Download this installer Install package and use it to reinstall Microsoft Excel. Then, restart your Mac and test.
