Resource costs not adding up

Hello Community

Hoping you can help!

I have a Project Plan (Master) that pulls through data from sub-projects with a shared resource folder.

I have set up resources (staff costs) but am struggling to pull through more than one resource cost.

Eg. So... I may have 3 subtasks, I attach a resource to subtask 1, the resource attaches and the £280 is populated in the cost column, and totals up to the task its associated to.

When I try to do the same for tasks 2&3 the resource is shown as attached but the costs don't pull through.

What am I doing wrong? Learning MS Project as i go

Thanks
Adam

    Adam --

I do not see anything in the screenshot you attached. Would you please send a screenshot of the Resource Sheet view so that we can see the resources names, along with their Standard Rate data? And would you please submit the original screenshot you attempted to attach with your last post? That would help us to troubleshoot and resolve your problem. Thanks!

    Hello Adam,

Double-check that the resource allocation isn’t exceeding the availability of the resources, which might prevent the cost from being calculated correctly. Verify that each resource is properly assigned to the respective tasks 2 and 3, similar to how you attached the resource to task 1.

Double-check that the resources are not over-allocated, which might prevent the cost from showing up. Resources can only be allocated to the extent of their availability.

Ensure that the task types (Fixed Units, Fixed Duration, Fixed Work) for tasks 2 and 3 match the settings of task 1 if the cost calculation works there. Different task types affect how resources and costs are calculated.

If your resources have different cost rates set in multiple rate tables, make sure the correct rate table is being used for each task.

Sometimes, simply refreshing the project or reapplying the resource to the task can fix the issue. Try removing and then re-adding the resource to tasks 2 and 3.

Ensure your version of Microsoft Project is up to date, as bugs affecting resources and cost calculations might have been fixed in later updates.

    Hope this helps!

    Warm Regards, Ozi
