A family of Microsoft word processing software products for creating web, email, and print documents.
Hi, thank you for reaching out. My name is Deeksha and I'm a Microsoft user like yourself and I will try to help you as best as I can today.
Search for the File Manually: Check the original location where you saved the document. Use the Windows search feature to search for the document name across your entire computer.
Check the Recycle Bin: Look in the Recycle Bin to see if the file was accidentally deleted.
Check OneDrive Recycle Bin: If the file was stored in OneDrive, go to the OneDrive website, and check the Recycle Bin there.
Use File History: If you have File History set up, navigate to the original folder where the file was stored, right-click it, and select ‘Restore previous versions’ to see if you can recover an older version.
Check for Temp Files: Sometimes Word saves temporary files that can be recovered. Search for *.asd files in the File Explorer search bar. Open Word, select "File" > "Info" > "Manage Document" > "Recover Unsaved Documents".
Open Recent File Attempt: In Word, go to “File” > “Open” > “Recent”. Right-click on the recent file and choose ‘Open file location’ to see if it takes you to the file’s location.
Check for the File in OneDrive Online: Sometimes the sync status might prevent the file from showing up locally. Access your OneDrive through a web browser and look for the file there.
Use a Recovery Tool: Consider using a file recovery tool to scan your hard drive for lost or deleted files.
Check Cloud File Versioning: If your file was synced to a cloud service like OneDrive, check the version history for the document which can be found in the details pane of the online file.
Try these steps and hopefully, it resolves your issue. In case you need further help or assistance, please let us know. You can also contact Microsoft Support if the problem persists.
Best regards Deeksha
