Microsoft Forms Submissions adding an ' at the start in Excel

I have a form set up to collect data from various locations regarding credit invoices. For some reason the responses that are being populated in Excel have suddenly adding an ' in from of the data. This is affecting my ability to sum totals as excel is reading this as a string instead of a number. Any ideas why it would have started doing this?

Thanks

    Hi Todd,

Thanks for posting in the community. We are happy to help you.

I have tested it on my end and can't reproduce the same situation. I suggest you go to the form and get a new workbook. Go to the form, click the Responses tab, click the down arrow of the workbook, and click "Disconnect and sync to a new workbook". After that, please check again.

If it still occurs, you can try different ways to remove the single quote in the workbook.

    1. Clear format

Select cells, under the Home tab, click Clear, Clear Formats. After that, please format these cells as Number

    1. Use the Text to Columns feature

Select cells, under the Data tab, click Text to Columns, choose Delimited, Next, choose Other, and input the single quote, Next, Finish.

If the methods don't help, please post it back and provide a full screenshot of the data in your workbook. You can click "Insert Image" to upload the screenshot.

    Sincerely,
