Cannot Open Page error in OneNote app for Android

I am unable to open pages in the OneNote app for Android. When attempting to open the pages (which are visible as preview cards), I get the following error: "Cannot Open Page. This page may have been moved, deleted or you may have insufficient permissions to access it. Would you like to remove this preview card from Home?" I am on a stable and fast network, using the latest version of the app, and I have tried logging out and in again, but to no avail.

Where have these pages been moved to? Are they in a recycle bin? Are they recoverable? Why do I not have permission to view my own notes? Is it possible to get permission to view these notes from somewhere?

Hello Gustyla! I'm Gunasekar and I'd be happy to help you with your question.

I understand that you are having trouble viewing the Notebooks in OneNote Android which displays the error "Cannot Open Page. This page may have been moved, deleted or you may have insufficient permissions to access it. Would you like to remove this preview card from Home?"

    1. Did you make any recent changes to the Software?
    2. Are you having trouble opening all the notebooks in OneNote?

The error message indicates that notebooks have been corrupted or deleted. However, there are few areas where you can check and recover the files and open them on your device.

    A. Check OneNote Online.

Open any browser on your device. Go to https://onenote.com Sign in with your Microsoft account. Check if you can view/open/edit Notebooks on OneNote Online.

If you can view the notebook contents online, there might be sync issue on the Android device.

    B. View your Notebooks on OneDrive.

Open any browser on your device. Go to https://onedrive.live.com/ Sign in with your Microsoft account. Click the 'Documents' folder and check if you can view your Notebooks.

    C. Check the Deleted Notes folder.

(If you see your contents there, you can recover the notebooks there (or) Copy all the contents to a New Notebook)

Note: Some functions will not be available in OneNote android. Use the desktop version of OneNote or browser to recover the lost files.
