Stuck in a loop with the Authenticator application

I’m trying to add a work account but when I do I get a message asking for the authentication code in the app, which of cause I can’t as I'm trying to add it to the app. I’m effectively stuck in a loop. This had all been working fine for a few years. Note this work account has the same email address as my home account. Also I have no “admin” for this account, there is just me on the account. I need the authentication to access my azure account as I can’t get to my code repositories, this is causing a real headache as you can imagine. Thanks in advance

    I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with the Authenticator application. since you mentioned that this work account has the same email address as your home account, May I please know the subscription type you are using? is it a Microsoft365 business subscription or Microsoft personal subscription?

    • May I please know if you purchase the subscription directly from Microsoft or other Partners like GoDaddy?

    If you are using Microsoft 365 business subscription and purchased directly from Microsoft, I understand your query here but, as your query related to account, and since we are belong to Microsoft Community site, our forum is available for public. Also, we have limited resource and privilege to examine account related scenarios. Moreover, since you are the only user for this account, we sincerely recommend that you contact dedicated Microsoft data protection support team directly via phone support Find Microsoft 365 for business support phone numbers by country or region - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn or Global Customer Service phone numbers - Microsoft Support. They are the only responsible and privileged support team for account related queries. While phone call, press "1" as business email user and press "1" again as technical support. You also need to provide your subscription purchased information such as company name, billing information, phone number, alternative email address etc. So, the data protection team can assist you in resetting your multifactor authentication and once reset, you can add your account to your authenticator app again or choose other authentication method to sign into your account.
