Microsoft Learn - Before registering with this Microsoft account, please check if you have already registered with another account.

Hello,

I have the following problem. I can sign in to Microsoft normally, but I get the following error on the Microsoft Learn platform, which keeps repeating itself:

“Before registering with this Microsoft account, please check if you have already registered with another account.”

After I go through the steps and want to book a certification as an example, I arrive back at the “Create your profile”.

“By joining, you agree that our websites and applications may record and track your achievements and activities as part of your Microsoft Learn membership. In addition, your username, display name, profile picture, affiliation, awards and activities will be publicly visible. You can hide your achievements and activities under “Settings”.”

I am logged in on a business laptop and have done the following:

  • Cleared cookies and browser data (cache etc.)
  • Signed in on another device (where only my private Microsoft account is stored)
  • Restarted the device
  • Used different browsers
  • Tried on the smartphone

None of the above helped me. Support was unable to help me. I can't get through to Microsoft Learn Support either because of the problems mentioned above. The support chat is also very difficult or even impossible to reach because I just can't get in.

I would like to have the certification on my private account in case I leave the company and cannot access my company Microsoft account.

I hope you can help me.

    Dear Jason Röttger

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community.

I do understand your query, as your query related to Microsoft learn so please correct to learn support as bellow, and since we belong to Microsoft Community site, our forum is available for public. Also, we have limited resource and privilege to examine account related scenarios.

I understand that you would like to have the certification on your private account. Since your query is regarding this, we have a separate community team, so it is recommended to post through Results in Microsoft Credentials - Training, Certification, and Program Support so that a support agent from that team can verify and provide you with the necessary information.

Thank you for your precious time and kind understanding.

    Have a nice day.

    Sincerely,

    Shajia Afrin | Community Moderator
