Hi, I am currently trying to extract data programmatically out of excel files. The issue is, these excel files are restricted and protected by the business.

Is there a way I can programmatically access the contents of these files? Including the usage Azure Graph API to unlock these files and read them?

If you need help for Power Automate, you may create a new thread on Power Automate forum.

I have the same issue. I am the owner of a file and I want to use Power Automate to read and update a password-protected file. Can I use an office script to automatically put in my password to unprotect the sheet, do several actions and then lock it again when I am done? Also, if this file is protected, does that mean I can't access the scripts that I need to run on the file itself either?

Which type of code you want to use to extract data?

I'd suggest you create a new thread in Office Development which is special channel to handle such issue.

To clarify I can open the file manually as I belong to the company and have the required permissions. However I want to extract this data programmatically because this file is updated frequently. I want to develop a solution where I can extract this data using code.

Microsoft takes security seriously, thus ensures that they employ the best encryption method they can for products and services.

As a Microsoft customer support agent, I cannot provide assistance with bypassing security measures put in place by a business to protect their Excel files. It is important to respect the security and privacy measures put in place by the business and only access the files through authorized means. If you have authorization to access the files, you can use the appropriate credentials to open and read the files. If you do not have authorization, you should contact the business and request access.

    Thank you for your understanding.
