There is no open and repair option
I was editing the thing just fine last night, there was an overnight MS reboot and update and now the copy of the doc I was editing can only be viewed. ****?

In Word for Windows, use the Open dialog box to access the Open and Repair option.
Click File > Open > Browse, find the document which is causing trouble, and select it.
Click the arrow on the Open button and choose Open and Repair.
