Microsoft Lists: search function doesn't return all the records

Hello,

I'm having a problem with Search function in Microsoft Lists:

I have a list with a few hundred records; one of those records has in a column the value "952".

When I search for 952 (without " or *), I get these 2 records (none of them is BA):

When I search for 952*, I get these 4 records (again, none is BA):

I have reindexed my site (I did it last week and I think the reindex process is completed), I follow the Copilot suggestions - none fixed my problem; it's not my browser (it's the same in Safari on macOS, Edge for macOS and Windows, iOS app).

Has anyone else had and fixed this problem?

    Hi Leonard,

Thanks for posting in the community. We are happy to help you.

I can reproduce a similar situation when searching the values in the Number field. I wonder if these list items were created or modified before February 5, 2024.

If so, based on my search, there is a service incident affecting SharePoint Online content search results.

This issue has been posted to the Service Health Dashboard (SHD) as incident SP709902 starting on Jan 25, 2024, 1:21 AM GMT+8

User Impact: Users' SharePoint Online content search results may be missing or may disappear when pages load

Description: Items in search driven results may appear to be out of date or incomplete. Items within the search index that may be impacted were created or updated prior to Monday, February 5, 2024. Any content added or modified after February 5, 2024, isn't impacted. Source content isn't impacted by this incident.

Tenant administrators can view current information and updates on SHD at the link here.

    https://admin.microsoft.com/Adminportal/Home#/servicehealth/:/alerts/SP709902

Based on the situation, I suggest you report this to your tenant admin or IT team and wait for the fix.

If the situation still occurs on your side after the service incident has been fixed, or these list items were created or modified after February 5, 2024, I suggest you contact your admin or IT department to raise a support ticket via Microsoft 365 Admin Center> Support> New service request. The support team there has the correct channel and resources to help you investigate more and find what exactly the reason has caused this situation.

Additionally, here is a workaround that may resolve the situation. For more details, please view this thread: Searching a list for a column with number data type.

    Appreciate your understanding and patience.

    Sincerely,

    George | Microsoft Community Moderator
