I've tried all buttons. Repair Now does nothing; Help brings me to this page; Close closes the program, but nothing happens. The message just re-appears. Has anyone else run into this?

As you have observed, Repair Now, which runs a Quic kRepair, is often ineffective. Instead, perform a full online repair through Windows Settings as instructed at https://support.office.com/en-us/article/repair-an-office-application-7821d4b6-7c1d-4205-aa0e-a6b40c5bb88b
