The spacing between characters in excel can not be reduced no matter what. Please let me know what I can do to fix this.

Are you saying that the spacing between characters is too great?

Have you tried changing the default font type and font size in Options. You might have a font that does not permit changing the spacing between the characters.

• Select File -> Options -> General
• Edit default font and size.
• Click OK (Might not save the changes if you just close the dialog without using OK)
• Close Excel and then re-open Excel.

I did what you recommended and reopened the file. However, that did not fix the problem. Attached is the example of the issue.

Your screen shot indicates the particular font is the problem.

The method I gave you only works as the default font for all new workbooks.

For an existing workbook, Select the entire sheet (Click on the top left of the sheet where the Column Id's and Row numbers meet to select entire sheet) and then on the Home ribbon, select the required font.
