One of my workbooks has a dozen or so sheets and is very slow. Whenever I have to do something it has to calculate 12 threads. I don't know why. This has been going on for a while. Now I cannot cut and paste rows, inserting them, etc.

    Hi,Mitul Arora1

Welcome to the Microsoft Community, and we'll be happy to help you.

First I would like to confirm with you exactly which version of office product you have? Please open any office component (e.g. word) and click on File-Account to see the product information. If it is convenient for you, you can take a screenshot and share it with me.

Also you can try to create a new Excel document to see if you can cut, paste, insert rows and other operations normally. See if the problem persists.

Meanwhile you can try the following methods:

    Registry reset office :

    Close all office applications.

Press Windows + R , type: regedit in the run box that opens and press enter.

Locate the following key value and rename the Office folder (right-click on it and select Rename, e.g. rename Office to Officeold)

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office

Then re-open the word document to try the effect.

Disclaimer: Modifying the registry or workgroups is usually geared towards advanced users, administrators, and IT professionals, and it can help fix some problems, however, improper registry modifications can cause serious problems. Therefore, please make sure to follow the steps below strictly. For further protection, make a backup of the registry before modifying it.

Creating a new local account can help you troubleshoot problems caused by user profiles.

Create a local user or administrator account in Windows - Microsoft Support

If the problem disappears after creating a new local account, the problem may be caused by a lost or corrupted user profile of the original account. You can transfer the existing data to the new account.

I wish you good health and all the best
