I get this error when doing a mail merge. It happens on most but not all my saved lists. I called support but they couldn't fix it.

If you send me a copy of the document, referencing this thread in the covering email message, I will investigate the issue.

    Hello, LanceRupp.

    Welcome to Microsoft community.

I understand that you seem to be having trouble merging Ward files. You contacted customer service, but they still didn't help you solve the problem. I understand your feelings. Please don't worry, I will do everything I can to help you within my authority.

From the screenshots you provided, it seems that the files you want to merge appear to be saved in the OneDrive cloud, the issue may be related to the stability of the OneDrive servers, I recommend that you store some files locally and then try to merge them to test to see if the problem persists.

You can take screenshots of some of the file properties or share them with me in a private message as well as the Word version and operating system version you are using, so that I can help you test it later and provide you with more targeted help.

    How to view private messages:

Check your sent PM by going to My Profile, and then selecting View private messages on the left pane of your profile page.
