My Microsoft To Do app isn't functioning properly. When I add a task, it doesn't appear in the list.

I tried re-downloading the program, updating my macOS to the latest version, and restarting my computer. I also deleted and re-downloaded the Microsoft To Do a couple of times, but the issue persists. I checked the internet, but it seems I cannot even open the settings to clear the cache for Microsoft To Do.

There is no error message; it just appears that nothing happens when I enter an action item into the program. I double-checked all categories where the to-do list items might be, but it seems whatever I entered never shows up. I even used print preview to see if the list or the action items I added would appear there, but they do not.

I cannot seem to change my account in the program -- it seems as if I cannot open settings to connect to another microsoft account.

Please advise.

    Hi Team T,

I apologize for the late reply. As mentioned in the banner on the community, there have been some issues with the notification system recently, and the support team has not been receiving any responses. I need to respond to a large number of threads daily, so it took me some time to locate your thread. I apologize again for the delay in my response.

About your issue: Uninstalling and reinstalling the Microsoft To Do application usually clears the login credentials in the app. However, if you have already tried this step, you might consider creating a new local account on your Mac and logging in. It's possible that certain system files are affecting the Office update of login credentials.

    Hi Thomas,

I hope this message finds you well. Thank you for your efforts to help with my issue. I believe I’ve identified the problem: when I re-downloaded the program onto another MacBook, the first thing it did was request a sign-in to Microsoft. After I signed in, all functions began working properly.

The to-do lists application, in the new Macbook, are also linked with the website (to do), likely because I’m using the same account.

However, the issue with my application still persists. I tried the following methods:

    1. Clearing all Microsoft-related information in Keychain Access
    2. Deleting and re-downloading all Microsoft-related applications
    3. Opening System Preferences to clear the cache for all Microsoft-related folders

I only want the login request page to appear when I re-download the application from the App Store.

When I hover around the account button on the problem Macbook and click "Preferences..." nothing shows up. When I hover around "To Do" and click "Services Settings" Nothing shows up too. HOWEVER, when I did these things on my new macbook, the account information came up right away -- giving me an option to sign-out. (how it should be)

Right now, the To do account in the problem Macbook is NOT my Microsoft account, but I cannot seem to sign-out from it. Please advise if I can DELETE ALL INFORMATION with the program and redownload it through app store.

By the way, I checked the Service Status on office.com, and everything is ticked—there are no issues.

Thank you again for your assistance.

    Best regards,
    Team T.

Hi Team T,  Thanks for your post in Microsoft Community. Please first visit the following link to check if your network can connect to the Microsoft To Do cloud service: Service Status (office.com)

Have you tried checking if the tasks can be synced on the To Do website? For example, if you create a task in the macOS app, does it successfully sync to To Do website, and vice versa?

Finally, please try the following steps to clear all Microsoft-related account credentials to see if this resolves the issue:

    1. Go to the Finder > Applications > Utilities > Keychain Access.
    2. Remove the Identities related to Microsoft Office

I hope the information above is helpful to you, and I look forward to your reply!Best Regards,Thomas C - MSFT | Microsoft Community Support Specialist
