why won’t my one note sync

I created notes using one note during my time in uni, accessing Microsoft with my university, I’ve left now and started a role so that account has been closed down but I still can’t access some of my notes that I made, it keeps saying incomplete sync and won’t sync fully. I’ve tried to open them in web browser but it says I’m not in the organisations directory but I’m confused because there were notes that I personally made on one note and some of my screenshots are not showing up. Is there anyway I can combat this ?

    Dear User,

    Good day!!

Apologies for the inconvenience caused and please don’t worry, let’s work together on your concern and move towards a resolution path.

I understand your concern and to my knowledge, I would like to let you know that the Notebooks created with the Office 365 account provided by your university will be stored in the OneDrive for Business associated with university account.

Since you mentioned that the account provided by your university is closed, that’s the reason why you are encountering the sync issues on the Notebook and error when accessing the Notebook in the browser.

In this situation, I would like to convey that student and teacher accounts provided by the Education Institution are managed by the IT admins of the Education Institution.

Note: Microsoft Moderators or Microsoft Phone support agents will not have any access to the user accounts.

Generally, the IT admins of the organization or Educational Institution will follow two methods when the users have left the organization or graduated from the Educational Institutions i.e.,

Method 1: Delete the user Office 365 account from the organization/Educational Institutions.

Method 2: Unassign the license to the user Office 365 account and put the user OneDrive for Business to retention policy & convert the regular mailbox to the shared mailbox.

So, if your IT admins of your Educational Institution followed the method 1, then they will have only 30 days to restore the deleted user account before the data gets permanently deleted.

If your IT admins of your Educational Institution followed the method 2, you no need to worry about the data, where you can connect with the IT admins and request them provided access to your data; so that you can follow the steps provided by Neha Singh MSFT for moving the Notebooks from your university account to your own account: Moving Onedrive Onenote notebooks between accounts? - Microsoft Community

So, please connect with the IT admins of your Educational Institution and ask them to the provide the access to your data and if they have deleted, please ask them to see whether they can restore your Office 365 account and provide the data to you.

Appreciate your patience and understanding. Have a great day!!

    Best Regards,

    Sophia
