Two Microsoft Accounts

I seem to have two Microsoft accounts, one with a Hotmail Email and another with an 'Internode' Email.

I paid for a subscription for Office365 but have used the Internode Email. I will not have access to the Internode Email account soon and want to transfer the subscription to my other Email/Account.

Is this possible?

I have a bit of stuff saved in OneDrive.

Can I merge the accounts and use the Hotmail as the log in for the paid account?

Could I pay for Office365 on the Hotmail account - copy the files across then cancel the Internode account?

    Hello, AdrianWatt

Based on your description, it seems that your Microsoft account (with the Internode address) has a Microsoft 365 Family subscription, and you want to share it with the Microsoft account (with the Hotmail address).

You can do this. For more information, please refer to: Share your Microsoft 365 Family subscription - Microsoft Support

You can access your Internode account using your phone number, but you cannot access your Internode account using the Hotmail address.

Generally, if you need to access your Microsoft account with a different email address or phone number, you can do so by adding an alias.

However, the Hotmail address has already been used by you to create a new Microsoft account, and it cannot be an alias for other Microsoft accounts.

For more information, see Add or remove an email alias in Outlook.com - Microsoft Support.

The phone number can be used.

Please note: The same phone number cannot be associated with two Microsoft accounts. To add it as an alias for another Microsoft account, you must first remove it from the original account.

Please let me know if my reply is helpful to you.

    Hi Lucia,

    Thank you for your reply.

Would I be able to add the Hotmail as a Shared subscription (I have 4 left) and just use the Hotmail or my phone number to access the Internode account?

    Hello, AdrianWatt

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I realize that you want to know if you can transfer Microsoft 365 subscription from one Microsoft account (Internode address) to another (Hotmail address). I understand how you feel.

    Unfortunately, you can’t.

I would like to inform that the subscription is associated with a Microsoft account and cannot be transferred from one Microsoft account to another. I l know this will bring inconvenience, but you may have to buy a new subscription for the Microsoft account with Hotmail address.

For more information, see Transfer Microsoft 365 Family or Personal to a different Microsoft account - Microsoft Support.

And if you pay for Microsoft 365 on the Hotmail account, you can copy your files from the OneDrive of Internode account to the OneDrive of Hotmail account.

To do that: Download all files from the OneDrive of Internode account to your local device and then upload them to the OneDrive of Hotmail account.

If you have OneDrive app on Windows, you can:

    • Sign in OneDrive app with the Internode account.
    • Click the OneDrive Icon on taskbar > Open folder. This will locate you to the OneDrive folder.
    • Copy all files in the OneDrive folder to another place in your computer. For example, you can create a new folder in C:\ and copy files to there.
    • Click the OneDrive Icon on taskbar > click settings (gear icon) > go to the Account tab > select Unlink this PC. This will unlink OneDrive of Internode account with your computer.
    • Sign in again with Hotmail account. This will create a new OneDrive folder for Hotmail account. Copy all files to the new OneDrive folder. OneDrive will automatically sync them.

I hope my reply helps you.
