    Dear Theodoros Chatziioannou,

Thank you for your reply. We see that you said that you cannot alleviate the activation process by logging in to both the work account and the personal account.

You do not need to switch accounts repeatedly. Usually the license information is bound to one of your accounts. You need to confirm whether the bound account is a personal account or a work account?

Then use the same account to log in to the Office program.

At the same time, regarding your question about "how to download old versions of Office software", I need to explain to you:

Office for Mac has a special historical version record support article. To download the historical version, you need to find the corresponding version in the link below and click the download link next to it to download it.

Update history for Office for Mac - Office release notes | Microsoft Learn

For example, to download the historical version 16.42, you can directly click on the blue hyperlink information, and the download progress and information will be displayed after clicking.

You can try to see if this helps you install and activate successfully.

    Best regards

    Dear Theodoros Chatziioannou,

We see that you have tried to run the license removal tool, but it still cannot help you solve and try to activate.

    Further confirmation is needed:

    • Did you get the corresponding error message when activating? Have you recently transferred the device or hardware information?

You can share with us the screenshot of your error message so that we can further confirm the activation information.

At the same time, have you tried to install the old version of Office and try to activate as we suggested before? Does installing the old version work?

Before installing the old version, you need to uninstall the Office program that is already installed on your Mac system to avoid other running file information:

Troubleshoot Office for Mac issues by completely uninstalling before you reinstall - Microsoft Support

Then you reinstall the old version of the program and activate it to see if it works:

If you have recently changed your hardware or activated your device, other error messages may appear.

You can try to see if this helps you activate successfully. You can also share your page screenshots and information with us so we can help you check further.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

    Dear Theodoros Chatziioannou,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

We understand that you need help activating Office 2016 on Mac.

Based on your description, we guess that you downloaded the Office program and logged into your account directly, but it shows that it needs to be activated. We need to explain to you:

Due to differences between Mac and Windows systems, the license information may not be detected directly in Mac. You can try to use Office license removal tool to renew your license.

Please make sure all office programs are completely closed and exited before running, otherwise the operation may be invalid.

You can refer to the information in the following link to download and run the license removal tool:

How to remove Office license files on a Mac - Microsoft Support

At the same time, we also need to explain to you about the use of Office 2016 in Mac:

Since the release period of Office 2016 in Mac has ended, the latest version you downloaded from the website may not be detected in the system.

End of support for Office 2016 for Mac - Microsoft Support

To help you install and use, we recommend that you try downloading the old version of the Office program through the Office for Mac history.

Update history for Office for Mac - Office release notes | Microsoft Learn

After you install it, you can re-run the license removal tool and log in to your Microsoft account to activate Office.

You can try to see if the activation is successful. If there is an update, you can reply to us.
