Distance between chart lines

On a Mac. How do I decrease or increase the space between the lines on charts? Series overlap has no effect and gap width only makes the individuals wider or more narrow, but doesn't bring them closer together.

Gap width bring the columns closer together, which was your original request.

If you want the columns to also maintain their width, you'll have to make the chart narrower or add blank rows above and below your data series to create blank areas on either side of the columns.

That doesn't make the chart less wide. I don't want to make the columns thicker. I want the spacing between them to be less, but not by making the columns wider. If the gap width is 300% I don't want all the extra space between the columns. I'd like to move them closer together.

I don't see any lines on your chart. Are you referring to the data series that display the two columns? If so, lower the Gap Width to 0% to make them touch.
