Word online problems

Question

Word online messes my file layout of pages and text, repeats and deletes text and images by itself.

I have started a new file, a book layout, it is impossible to work with Word.

What is the solution?

Word Online is not a suitable application for trying to format a book. You need the desktop app for this, as Word Online just doesn't have the required features.

Yes, I do know this, but I wanted to set up the pages preliminary, to see if it fits the layout, before signing for InDesign, this was impossible. I use Windows 11.

The text box, for example, appeared on the page it was ment for, but also on the previous page, same when inserting the images. Something is not compatible.

I could set up the text and the images on the pages I wanted but in Google docs. I can also convert the file to PDF which is very useful to see the layout.

I am surprised that MS Word is so volatile.

Anyway, I need to upgrade SSD before using Adobe, at least I know now that the layout should be fine.

First of all, I want to confirm whether the "Word online" you mentioned refers to the web version of Word? How did you open your document in the web version of Word? I tried to open a custom document, and its format did not change. I used "File", "Open Project". And it will prompt you to upload this file to OneDrive and open it in a new tab. If you can't see it, you can check all your documents or OneDrive.

You mentioned that you created a new file with a book layout, but you can't use it normally. Can you tell me the specific situation? For example, you can't edit it. Did you encounter any error messages or prompts? It would be better if you can share a picture that can illustrate the problem.
