I need assistance with the Track Changes function

Anonymous

I'm unable to track changes when I add a word. I can see the changes for when a word is deleted on the right side; I can not see a change on the right side when I add a word. I've explored the Track Changes option thoroughly. I'm at a loss for how to activitate the add function on the right side. Help :)

My phone number is [Moderator note: personal info removed]; Email: ___@___.___ I would enjoy arranging a screenshare session with you. Please let me know in either case.

Take care, and I look forward to hearing from you.

First, you may have noticed that your personal info has been deleted in order to protect you from scammers & other villains. Never post personal info in public forums because they are open to the bad guys as well as the good ones.

On the Review tab open the Tracking> Markup Options menu & make sure that the liosting for Insertions and Deletions is checked. This only makes them marked in the body of the document. Only Deletions, Formatting & Moves display in Balloons. Insertions do not.

If you want to present your case to the development team use Help> Feedback in the main menu to submit feature requests, suggestions, etc. Responsible Feedback is logged & evaluated but don't expect a personal reply.

Indeed, "balloons" is Microsoft terminology for the little bubbles in which revisions display in the Markup area. The balloons display deletions, formatting and moves.

Insertions should be visible in the Reviewing pane, though, assuming that the Reviewing pane is supported in Word for Mac.

    Dear Stefan,

By "Balloons" are you referring to the Column on the right side of the screen? The same Column listing comments and deletions?

Word doesn't display insertions in balloons, as Bob said. (It is the same in Word for Windows.)

What you can do is post a suggestion to Microsoft for future versions of the software, using the Feedback facility.

Thank for you for the tips. The advice provided didn't answer my question. I explored the suggestions - I'm still unable to list where I made additions on the right hand side column. How can I schedule a phone call or a chat to discuss my issues with a live agent? It will be a lot more efficient if I can directly speak to someone instead of the back/forth of emails. My direct phone number is [Moderator note: personal information removed].

    Thanks again for the assistance.

    Matt
