Cannot Get MS Office to Authenticate

We licensed a new copy of Office 365 on July 15, 2024. When I try to use any office product, I am asked to activate the product. Every time I enter all the 7-digit data, I am told the product is not an official MS product even though it is and I'm installing it from the Subscriptions page for our MS account. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the product from the subscriptions page multiple times to attempt to get past this problem. Nothing works! Just prior to licensing Office 365, I did update to Windows 11 from Windows 10 on this machine. Based on some other posts, could this be contributing to this error. Can anyone please tell me how to fix this problem! Thanks.

    Dear LUMC Office,

    Welcome to the Microsoft Community.

We understand that you need to activate Office in the system, but an error occurs.

According to your description, you have subscribed to Microsoft 365 product information, but you still cannot use your Office program to activate after logging in to your account.

We see that the data you entered is 7-digit data information. What is your data? Is your product key 7 digits? Or other information?

You said that the product is not an official product, but you can see the information on the account subscription page. Can you share with us the specific error page screenshot?

You said that you have uninstalled and reinstalled the Office program, but still have not activated the product, usually after you subscribe and redeem Office, your product will be displayed under the account, and you can log in to the account in the system and detect your license information for activation. You do not need to re-activate the key. To help you further confirm the correctness of the system's detection of account permission information and your login credentials, you can help us try to see if the operation is effective:I. Clear the corresponding login credentials to confirm1. Press Windows+R, enter regedit, click OK, open the registry, find the following registry subkey, right-click Identity, and delete it. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\Identity

Disclaimer: Generally, modifying registry subkeys or work group is intended for advanced users, administrators, and IT Professionals. It can help fix some problems; however, serious problems might occur if you modify the registry incorrectly. Therefore, make sure that you follow these steps carefully. For further protection, back up the registry before you modify it. Then, you can restore the registry if a problem occurs. For more information about how to back up and restore the registry, clickhttps://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-to-back-up-and-restore-the-registry-in-windows-855140ad-e318-2a13-2829-d428a2ab0692herehttps://support.microsoft.com/en-us/topic/how-to-back-up-and-restore-the-registry-in-windows-855140ad-e318-2a13-2829-d428a2ab0692to view the article.

II. Check the license information to help confirm:

You can try to run the corresponding command to help the system detect and confirm whether there is an incorrect license information. If so, clear it:

    1. Press win + X on the keyboard and select "Command Prompt (Administrator)" cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office16.

If the prompt path is incorrect, please enter

    cd C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office16

    1. Enter (note that there is a space after .vbs, use English input method to enter the command): cscript ospp.vbs /dstatus
    2. Enter the following command to uninstall the last five keys: cscript ospp.vbs /unpkey:

(the last five keys displayed) [such as: cscript ospp.vbs /unpkey:DV3TM]

If there are many displayed, you need to clear them completely multiple times.

After completion, open the Office program to activate. Since there is a license under your account, you need to log in to your account and confirm the license selection. After selection, the activation will be successful.

Change your Office product key - Microsoft Support

You can try the operation. If there are any updates or questions, you can reply to us and we will further help you confirm the cause of the problem.Best Regards,Zenobia.Z | Microsoft Community Support Specialist
