As long as your files are saved before you upgrade your RAM, you won't lose any data.

    Hello, FBRUBBERDUCKY.

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

It sounds like you're concerned about losing access to your documents on Microsoft 365 after upgrading your RAM. This could be related to how your computer is handling cached data, but your documents themselves should be stored securely in the cloud, not on your local RAM.

Here’s how you can ensure your documents are safe and accessible regardless of hardware changes:

    1. Ensure Documents are Saved to OneDrive:

    • Before upgrading your RAM, make sure that all your important documents are saved to OneDrive or SharePoint. This ensures they are stored in the cloud and not just on your local device.
    • You can do this by opening your documents in Word, Excel, or another Office app and choosing File > Save As, then selecting OneDrive as the location to save the file.

    2. Sync Your OneDrive Files:

    • Make sure OneDrive is fully synced with your device. You can check the OneDrive icon in your system tray (bottom right of your screen). If it shows a green checkmark, your files are fully synced.
    • If you notice any issues with syncing, you can manually force a sync by right-clicking the OneDrive icon and selecting Sync Now.
    1. To confirm that your documents are safely stored in the cloud, log in to OneDrive Online through a web browser. Check to see if all your files are present there. If they are, then they are safely stored in the cloud.
    2. If you have important files stored locally on your device (not in OneDrive), consider backing them up to an external hard drive or USB drive before upgrading your RAM.

Additional tips after upgrading your RAM:

    • After upgrading your RAM, if you notice issues accessing your documents, make sure that OneDrive is properly re-synced. If necessary, you can re-install the OneDrive app to ensure it is functioning correctly.
    • If you believe that cached data in RAM is causing issues with document access, this may suggest there was a temporary issue with how your computer was handling data. Normally, the RAM should not affect your ability to access cloud-stored documents. However, upgrading your RAM should improve overall performance and not impact document accessibility.

    Final Checks:

    • A stable internet connection is necessary to access documents stored in OneDrive or SharePoint.
    • Ensure that your Office apps are properly licensed and logged in with the correct Microsoft account after the RAM upgrade.

If you follow these steps, your documents should remain safe and accessible, and you should not lose any data during the RAM upgrade. Should you have any questions or require clarification, do not hesitate to reach out to me. I‘d like to do my utmost to assist you.
