Server 2012 and installing the printnightmare patch.

On a Dell 720 running Server 2012. I install the printnighmare patch, it runs and the status bar completes. I reboot and the spooler version has not updated. No errors are in the event logs, presumably because it thinks it has installed.

Microsoft has released the KB5004948 emergency security update to address the Windows Print Spooler PrintNightmare vulnerability on all editions of Windows 10 1607 and Windows Server 2016.

For Windows Server 2012 (Monthly Rollup KB5004956 / Security only KB5004960)

If you have issues installing them then I would suggest you to download them manually from here https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com/Home.aspx and install them .

Search for the KB number in the catalogue and download the updates and install them

You can also try SFC and DISM scan and restart the PC and run the Update again.
