Cannot access admin account for Microsoft 365

Question

I tried to get into my microsoft work account and the password was incorrect. I attempted to reset the password and it asked me to get a code from the authenticator app which required a password to log in. Microsoft Support also requires a password to access.

I am the admin and the product is Microsoft 365. The account I am locked out of is not the same one that I am logged into now.

How am I supposed to reset my password if I can't get in to the authenticator app without a password?

Regarding your post, generally if another user has admin rights, you can contact that other admin and ask that admin to reset the Authentication method for your account. Admin can do it by following the Manage user authentication options. (if you are not sure who is your admin, can refer to this How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support). 

If you are the admin only and can’t access your account due to an authentication issue, it is suggested to contact the Data Protection team, because we are from the community team and we are not authorized to reset any user/admin account. The Data Protection Team is the only support team to check and reset accounts.
