My friend had a hard drive issue that required replacement and cloning. During this process he lost access to an older office version. We paid $69 thinking office would be installed but no dice. If I try to install Word or Excel I get asked to pay another $69. What did I do wrong?

If you have a Microsoft 365 subscription, just re-install Office and login with your account (that has the subscription):
