A family of Microsoft spreadsheet software with tools for analyzing, charting, and communicating data.
Hi aaron ashford1,
Thanks for visiting Microsoft Community.
I understand that you're encountering an issue where your Office applications on Windows are unable to edit files. I'm here to help resolve this for you.
Based on your description, the inability to edit files is due to the application being installed but not activated. Since you've already purchased an annual subscription, all you need to do is activate your subscription within the application to use it normally. To do this, open any Office application such as Excel, then click on "File" and select "Account." In the "User Information" section, check if the currently logged-in account matches the Microsoft account you used to purchase the subscription. If it does not match, log out and sign in with the correct account.
If you're unsure which account was used to purchase the subscription, you can log into account.microsoft.com and click on "Services & subscriptions" in the left-hand menu to view the subscriptions associated with that account.
Should you encounter any other issues during the activation process, please feel free to get back to me.
Best Regards,
