I am unable to delete a text box. I can't highlight it or the contents. Neither left or right click will highlight. I tried deleting the entire contents of the document, and the text box still does not delete. The only clue I can suggest is that the text box appears to be ghosted.

See if the text box is anchored to the page header. Activate the header/footer view (for example by double-clicking the document header) and see if that lets you select and delete the text box.
