A family of Microsoft word processing software products for creating web, email, and print documents.
The best way to take care of Error 53 from Adobe is to remove some hidden files.
**Delete "linkCreation.dotm"**from this folder:
~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content/Startup/Word/
Delete“SaveAsAdobePDF.ppam” from this folder:
~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content/Startup/PowerPoint
Delete “SaveAsAdobePDF.xlam.” from this folder:
~/Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/User Content/Startup/Excel/
To get to these hidden files, in Finder press Shift+Command+L to take you to the library folder, then drill into the folders as shown above. Except in Sonoma use Finder’s Go menu and then choose Go to Folder then enter**~/Library**and press return to get to the hidden library folder.
(2024) Adobe has recently moved the location of the .ppam file. Follow the same steps to open you user Library folder, but then try looking in ~/Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Office365/User Content/Startup/PowerPoint
Of course, this assumes that the problem is being caused by Acrobat. Error 53 can be caused by other add-ins, as well.
