Microsoft has changed several preset shortcuts as discussed in the article at https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/t5/microsoft-365-insider-blog/new-zoom-shortcuts-in-word/ba-p/4219049.

According to the article, Subscript is now Ctrl + Shift + <hyphen>.

You can set your preferred shortcut via the Customize Keyboard dialog box. Click File > Options > Customize Ribbon > Customize to display the dialog box. Choose the "All Commands" category and find the Subscript command. Click in the "press new shortcut key" box and enter your preferred shortcut. Make sure that "Save changes in" is set to "Normal" and click the Assign button.

Why in heavens' name do they change these things???? It serves no purpose except to hassle users who have done it one way for years (decades). It's not better. It's just changed.

And now, it is different. Instead of just hitting CTL+h for superscript and typing, you have to type your superscript, then highlight it, then do the (new keys) macro? Many more steps. Much more hassle.

Who did this? Someone who never uses super and subscripts?

Good God. Please Microsoft, leave us alone. Everything was working fine before your "upgrades".

Thanks for eating up my time just trying to get things back to the way (quite productive) they were before. And now, it seems, I can't even get back to the simple way to do super and sub-scripts.

You are welcome to rant here if you want. It has the same effect as going to a barren canyon and yelling at the walls. No one from Microsoft who can make product changes will hear you.

Yes, it is a poor decision. You are preaching to the choir.

Stefan has pointed out how to restore your keyboard shortcuts.

Ctrl+H opens the Replace dialog. Ctrl++ (that is, Ctrl+Shift+=) turns on Superscript.
