Hello, I am trying to add a new email to my outlook on my browser. When I go to my profile and click open another mailbox after entering the email this error appears. When I try to add the new mailbox in the desktop version I get an error saying The set of folders cannot be opened. The attempt to log into Microsoft exchange has failed

    Dear Jacob Reil,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community.

The error messages you're seeing suggest that there might be a permissions issue or a problem with accessing the Microsoft Exchange server. However, in order to understand your query and provide possible solution, may I please double confirm if the account in question is your personal user mailbox, a shared mailbox or additional user mailbox?

    • If you are trying to access additional user mailbox or shared mailbox, may I please double confirm if you have full access permission? If you haven't check it yet, ensure that you have the necessary permissions to access the mailbox you're trying to add. Therefore, kindly sign in to Microsoft 365 admin center https://admin.microsoft.com/ --> Users -->Active users --> Select the name of the user (whose mailbox you want to open) to open their properties pane --> On the Mail tab, select Read and manage permissions --> Select Add permissions, then choose the name of the user or users that you want to allow to read email from this mailbox --> Select Add. You can refer to Give mailbox permissions to another user - Admin Help - Microsoft 365 admin | Microsoft Learn. Note: if you are an end user, you might need to contact your IT administrator to verify and grant the required permissions
    • May I please double confirm if you can able to sign in using the direct link via outlook on the web instead of open the mailbox as additional mailbox?

I look forward to your response. Kindly note that the above requested information is required for further analysis and troubleshooting of your situation. Your patience and cooperation are much appreciated.

Thanks for your precious time. Have a nice day!

    Sincerely,
