Huge shared folder upload, can't stop the sync.

Hi,

I have a huge shared folder in my company that has tens of thousands of files. It is synced in my file explorer under my company's SharePoint. It's consistently updating over the last few days, completing about 1 every few seconds, and taking up around 40% of my CPU. It's gotten to the point where I can't do any other uploading to OneDrive, I think because of this upload. It's also bogging my computer down and has (I think) caused a couple of computer crashes.

I don't need to have it locally available (I don't use these files, they're all online only, anyway). I've tried stopping the sync, but every attempt at this has failed and it continues to keep on syncing. I first went to OneDrive > Settings > Account > [Folder] > Stop Sync, and it prompted me with a confirmation, and after confirming it disappeared... for a couple of seconds. Every time I've tried to go that route, it disappears for a couple of seconds and then reappears, continuing to upload.

The other way I tried was in File Explorer, where I found the folder, right clicked, clicked "Stop Sync" under OneDrive, and still it didn't work.

I don't want to just delete the folder (as I don't know how this is going to affect the SharePoint folder).

Another bit of information is that I have read-only access to this folder, as well.

Any ideas on how to fix this?

    Hi BrandonS_124,

Thanks for posting in the community. We are happy to help you.

Per your description, I suggest you reset your OneDrive, and then check again. You won't lose any data by resetting OneDrive.

If it happens again after resetting, I would like to know if it happens when syncing a specific file/folder. Also, are your colleagues experiencing the same situation?

We look forward to your response. Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,
