What is the location of the file? You can have problems trying to save to a CD, USB or external or network drive. As a general rule you should open from and save to your local hard drive to avoid corruption. You can always copy over to backup your file.

So, go ahead and do a Save As to a different location on your local hard drive and save a copy of the file with a different file name. Close Works, reopen, and test the new file. If the new file works ok you can rename it later if necessary.

Worst case open a new database file and copy and paste the content from the corrupted file, save as, etc.

Yes, Works has been discontinued and eventually one of the new OS will not run Works so you should start converting your files to Office file formats.

    Hi Al Le B,

    Welcome to the Microsoft community.

I hope I can provide you with valid advice. Unfortunately, Microsoft Works ceased to be supported many years ago. So members of this community may not be familiar with issues related to this product.

Here are some links you can refer to.

But we will still keep this thread open for our great community volunteers to come up with ideas for you.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Sincere greetings,
