By default, when you save as PDF, there is a check box (checked by default) for "Open file after publishing." This will open the file in your default PDF reader (which ordinarily would not be Word). For that purpose you must have Adobe Acrobat Reader or some other PDF reader installed (Edge browser) and set as the default. To set default PDF app ... opet settings, go to Apps. Type in .pdf. Find app to open it (Edge browser will be a good idea).
