Remove Contact from Shared Notebook

I need to remove terminated employees from a shared OneNote notebook but when I open the notebook there is no "shared symbol" in the right hand corner to click on and manage the setting. When I go to 'File' and select the book that way I can see the contacts but cannot select them to remove; Selecting only displays their contact information. Anyone else had this problem and or have suggestions on how to remove them?

    Dear Edyie Thompson,

Good day! Thank you for posting to Microsoft Community. We are happy to help you.

As per your description, we understand that you are trying to remove terminated employees from a shared OneNote notebook.

We've done a quick test with OneNote for Microsoft 365 version 2411, and we cannot reproduce a similar situation on our side.

To help you better, we would like to collect more detailed information you're experiencing so that we can have a further investigation:

    1. Where is the OneNote notebook located, is it in cloud such as OneDrive/SharePoint or in local disk?
    2. Please share some screenshots of "but when I open the notebook there is no "shared symbol" in the right hand corner to click on and manage the setting. When I go to 'File' and select the book that way I can see the contacts but cannot select them to remove" with us.
    3. Please also share your operating system version and your OneNote version with us. Please navigate to OneNote > File > Account and take a screenshot as shown below:

Meanwhile, if the OneNote notebook is located in cloud such as OneDrive/SharePoint, we'd recommend you navigate to the location in cloud and check if you can manage access in browser as a workaround.

Welcome to post back when you have any update, we will continue doing best to assist you.

If the understanding above is not consistent with yours, please feel free to post back and point that.

Your understanding and patience will be highly appreciated. We hope that you are keeping safe and well!

    Thanks for your cooperation.

    Sincerely,

    Rhoda | Microsoft Moderator
