Hints gone

Dearest Wizards,

It used to be (before a recent update?) when I was typing a function in the formula bar that a blue texted 'hint' would appear that would help me know what was next in the function. It's no longer there and I'd like to have it back; it really was helpful. FWIW I 'HAVE' done EXCEL>PREFERENCES>VIEW and Function ScreenTips 'is' checked & I'm working on a Mac.

TIA for your help,

Sam

FWIW: I'm using the same version of Mac Office as well as 16.89 on Ventura [13.6.9] & Sonoma [14.7] without any such issue. I suspect you may be a victim of what I refer to as Early Adopter Syndrome. Apple seems to be more concerned with meeting release dates than with providing stable releases od=f the OS: Display issues have been common in the last several initial releases as well as the first few updates to them.

If you haven restarted the Mac since applying the 16.89.1 update to Office, try that. Otherwise it's a matter of waiting for further updates.

Bob, you were spot on. I did a restart and the hints are back.

    Thanks for your help,

I wonder what version of Excel and Mac OS you run. To find your version of Excel us the Menu Bar and choose Excel > About Microsoft Excel.
